Abstract

This study has investigated utopia and the emergence of utopia in specific to Farabi’s work, Medinetu’l-Fazila, and the other utopias. The first element that engenders utopias has been formed by ontological encounters. By this way, the owner of the utopia who constructs his own realm of existence presents the imagination of being as a system in an integrated approach. Utopia that is altered a study (book, etc.) signs its own exit inside it self while transferring its own knowledge by its source.
By utopias, political ambiguities are signed in a more distinctive way and a literary work has been produced around the island novels, and so it is evaluated in this perspective. Farabi’s Medinetu’l-Fazila as being both a literary work and philosophical / political text, tries to balance the realm of existence of Turkish-Muslim world towards encountered Greek philosophy. Thus, the knowledge of the realm of existence coming from the past is re-designed and framed in the face of this recent encounter.
Farabi, who is amongst important and great characters in Turkish history, gives an ontological response to an ontological encounter in Medinetu’l-Fazila. In doing so, Farabi creates a new frame towards the new world he encountered by his own perspective and the world he has been experiencing.
