Abstract

The article provides an ethnolinguistic analysis of religious names found in ancient Turkic texts. Since these works, written in the ancient Uyghur language, are mainly texts of religious translation, there are many religious terms, prayers, and verses in the language of the country of origin of the religion. In order to study and introduce the noble heritage of our ancestors into scientific circulation in our native language, it is necessary to know the origins of these names. The purpose of the article is to analyze the origin and explain the meaning of religious names, which are often found in ancient Uyghur translation literary artifacts. The article has great scientific and practical significance in the study of the practice of identifying the territory where the Buddhist religion was practiced, translating into other languages. The article uses comparative-historical methods of grouping, analysis, translation, analysis of the origin of religious names used in the ancient Turkic language in that era. When writing Our research work, we used religious names from the Sutra "sekiz yukmek yaruk", which preaches the Buddhist religion widely known in the world of science. As a result, it was found that when translating from texts about Mani, Buddha, Christianity, alternative names were created in the ancient Uyghur language, that is, new words were born and their widespread use, and they were analyzed from an ethnolinguistic point of view. The relevance of the article lies in the fact that this topic has never been discussed in Kazakh science and has not entered scientific circulation in the Kazakh language. The article is valuable for its contribution to the Kazakh Religious Science in terms of identifying and using ancient religious names. In the process of writing the work, the works of several domestic and foreign scientists were used.
