Using Social Media for Islamic Preaching

Abstract

Digitization process is also entering the spiritual life of Muslims. At present, the influence of the Internet on religious socialization of young people is great. The content and segments of Islamic religion in cyberspace are diverse and abundant. Social networks are bringing modernization and changes to society with their multifaceted activities.  The article examines the use of social networks for Islamic preaching in the context of Kazakhstan with examples. The study focused on the importance of preaching on Social Medias, the rapid development process, its own characteristics, format, profiles, and popular preachers. Concepts were created based on the content and materials collected from Social Medias, direct meetings and interviews with preachers and religious workers. Sermon is one of the main principles of Islamic discourse, it is important in spreading, glorifying and establishing religious values. In our country, preachers, priests, and imams widely use the Internet as a tool for promoting religious values. To expand their audience preachers in Kazakhstan are actively using YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, etc. platforms in propaganda. The scope, topic and content of sermons on Social Medias are wide and varied.
